On January 28, a baby boy was born on board Uzbekistan Airways flight HY101, traveling from Tashkent to New York. A gynecologist-obstetrician and a surgeon, who were among the passengers, assisted in the delivery. Due to the situation, the crew made an emergency landing at Keflavik Airport in Iceland. The airline announced this on its official Telegram page.
According to the report, a passenger went into labor during the flight. The crew leader assessed the situation and made an announcement calling for medical professionals on board. A gynecologist-obstetrician and a surgeon responded to the call. Shortly after, the passenger successfully gave birth to a baby boy.
As a result, the crew decided to make an emergency landing at Keflavik Airport in Iceland.
"After the plane landed successfully, medical personnel boarded the aircraft to provide the necessary assistance. The mother and newborn were taken to a local clinic," the report stated.
It is worth noting that in April 2023, a similar incident occurred when a baby boy was born on an Uzbekistan Airways flight from Tashkent to Istanbul.
As a result, the crew decided to make an emergency landing at Keflavik Airport in Iceland.
