The State Market Regulation Authority of China stated that Google is suspected of violating the country's anti-monopoly legislation, and an investigation was initiated in accordance with the law. China also imposed duties on American coal, oil, and automobiles. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce added PVH Corp and Illumina to the list of "unreliable organizations," accusing them of discriminating against Chinese companies. Sanctions against these firms may include fines, freezing of trade, and cancellation of work permits for foreign employees.

The trade confrontation between the United States and China continues, and new measures from Beijing may increase economic pressure on American business in Asia.
