Boeing has announced its decision to cut 10% of its workforce
Ortberg explained that the reductions are necessary to align the workforce with the company’s financial situation.

Since mid-September, Boeing has been facing a strike, with around 30,000 workers demanding wage increases. Following the start of the strike, the company announced that it would be sending many employees on leave.

Boeing's decision to reduce its workforce by 10% means that about 17,000 employees will be laid off, Ortberg noted. He explained that the company needs to focus on operations and innovation. He also mentioned that the company must take decisive action to recover. Ortberg promised that management would communicate honestly with employees about the timelines and implications of these actions.

Additionally, Ortberg stated that the company will postpone the first delivery of aircraft from the 777X program to 2026 due to issues that arose during development and the suspension of flight tests.

The company also plans to cease production of the freighter version of the 767 by 2027.
