Burkhanov: Outdated bureaucratic methods of selling air tickets still exist

Chairman of the Committee on Defense and Security K. Burkhanov noted that based on the appeal received by the committee, the causes of some problems associated with the activities of airlines owned by Uzbekistan Airways were studied in a preliminary manner.
The forty-fifth plenary meeting of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis began its work. Before discussing the agenda items, senators raised issues that caused numerous objections from citizens.
In particular, the Chairman of the Committee on Defense and Security K. Burkhanov said that based on the appeal received by the committee, the reasons for some problems associated with the operation of ticket offices owned by Uzbekistan Airways were initially studied. According to him, outdated bureaucratic methods of selling air tickets still remain.
It is noted that outdated methodological recommendations approved by the order of the National Airline Uzbekistan Airways dated October 25, 2015 No. 75, as well as the lack of improvement of relevant standards, create unreasonable and unreasonable obstacles for citizens. According to the relevant paragraph of this instruction, if citizens wish to purchase air tickets for their loved ones at the Uzbekistan Airways ticket office, they are required to have the original passport with them. Air tickets are not sold to citizens who do not present an original passport.
As a result, this situation creates a number of difficulties, especially for those whose relatives live in other regions, and objections to the rights of passengers are growing every day.
However, you can legally purchase an air ticket online through the website of Uzbekistan Airways "Uzbekistan airways" AJ - Rasmiy sayti , indicating the serial number and validity period of the citizen’s passport.
“A logical question arises: if there is such an opportunity, then why is an original citizen’s passport required of those wishing to buy air tickets for their loved ones at the Uzbekistan Airways ticket office?” Why is it not stated in the above instructions that you can buy an air ticket by indicating the serial number and validity period of the passport (via a copy of your passport)?
After all, a citizen who has purchased a plane ticket by entering the necessary personal data independently through the airline’s website or mobile application, when crossing the state border, will be checked by the border guards of the Academy of the State Security Service according to the required database, and if it is determined that the data was entered incorrectly, then crossing the state border will not be allowed and responsibility remains with the citizen.
Naturally, such situations also give rise to corruption in the sale of air tickets; instead of making life easier for citizens, they only bring anxiety and hardship.
On March 19, 2021, the Senate asked Uzbekistan Airways to make appropriate changes to the instructions to solve the above problem.
The response to the request stated that “measures are being taken to resolve this issue.” Unfortunately, the problems identified almost two years ago and identified in the survey have not yet been resolved.
In addition, the senator’s appeal was repeatedly sent to the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Surprisingly, on June 23, 2023, in a response to the Senate signed by the first deputy chairman of the board of Uzbekistan Airways, it was stated that it is impossible to solve this problem without any reason.
