Celebrating the 150th Anniversary of Mahmudkhoja Behbudi’s Birth

A Presidential decree, No. PQ-462, titled “On the extensive celebration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of the founder of the Turkestan Jadid movement, prominent writer, public figure, publisher, and educator Mahmudkhoja Behbudi,” has been issued.

According to the decree, 2025 will see widespread celebrations marking the 150th anniversary of the birth of Mahmudkhoja Behbudi, the founder of the Turkestan Jadid movement, a distinguished writer, public figure, publisher, and educator.
A program of activities to celebrate this milestone has been approved.
The program emphasizes the following key points:

preparing and publishing a collection of the thinker’s “Selected Works” and scientific-popular books about his life and activities;

staging theatrical performances about Mahmudkhoja Behbudi and organizing public screenings of the previously created series “Mahmudkhoja Behbudi” and the art-documentary film “The Heart of the People”;

holding essay competitions on the topic “Lessons of Mahmudkhoja Behbudi” among students of general education schools, creative institutions, cadets of the Temurbek Schools, and university students, with proper recognition of the winners;

organizing an international scientific and practical conference in October 2025 on the theme “The Legacy of Mahmudkhoja Behbudi and Current Issues in Studying the Jadid Movement”;

hosting a grand literary and educational commemorative evening in November 2025 dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Mahmudkhoja Behbudi’s birth.
