On July 9, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a video conference meeting focused on improving road safety, developing transport infrastructure, and reducing traffic congestion.

The President highlighted that over the past seven years, 61 trillion soums have been invested in road construction and repair — 3.5 times more than the total before 2017.

One of the key achievements noted was the launch of an online public service system, which led to a 50% reduction in in-person visits to traffic safety departments. Additionally, 3,365 electronic tablets and body cameras were purchased for officers, and traffic violations are now detected and processed through AI-powered systems.

Several core functions — such as driving tests, road marking, and technical inspections — have been outsourced to the private sector.

Dedicated lanes for public transport have also been introduced in several cities, aiming to improve mobility and reduce traffic jams.

President Mirziyoyev stressed that the work must continue and emphasized the need for a systematic approach to ensure that every citizen feels tangible improvements on the roads.
