The Senate approved a law aimed at strengthening the protection of citizens from fraud in the field of lending. Now citizens will be able to block the possibility of obtaining loans on them without their consent.

At the fourth plenary session of the Senate, the law on amendments to the legislation regulating the sphere of lending was considered. One of the key points was the creation of a mechanism allowing citizens to submit an application to the credit bureau and block the possibility of applying for loans without their knowledge.
In recent years, the number of cases of fraud related to the illegal processing of loans has significantly increased in Uzbekistan. In 2023 alone, more than 6.4 thousand cybersecurity crimes were registered, of which 76% were related to the embezzlement of funds from citizens' bank cards. In 2024, more than 57 thousand appeals were received on similar issues.
