Construction of the National Museum of Uzbekistan is proceeding actively

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the construction progress of the National Museum of Uzbekistan, currently being built in the center of the capital.
This major project is being implemented in accordance with the President's decree dated July 1, 2025. The Head of State laid the foundation stone for the facility in August of last year.
The President reviewed the large-scale construction and installation works underway at the site, as well as the processes of pouring foundations and establishing engineering infrastructure. It was noted that the complex will serve as a significant cultural space, showcasing the country's rich history and culture, as well as the goals and aspirations of its people.
The museum's architectural design and content have been shaped by global best practices. The project was developed by the renowned Japanese architect Tadao Ando, while the exhibition concept was prepared by the German firm Atelier Brückner.
The museum will cover a total area of 3.9 hectares, with a building footprint exceeding 40,000 square meters. The structure will consist of a main three-story building and a two-story underground section.
Sixty percent of the museum's space will be dedicated to educational and scientific activities. It will house exhibition halls, an extensive library, restoration laboratories, and conference rooms. Restaurants and playgrounds will also be created to provide meaningful leisure opportunities for families and young people.
The cultural facility will be able to accommodate up to 3,500 visitors simultaneously and will display approximately 10,000 historical and artistic exhibits.
Upon completion, the building will form a unified architectural ensemble with the nearby Abulkasym Madrasa, the Palace of Friendship of Peoples, and the National Park.
Cooperation will be established with leading global cultural institutions—including the Louvre in France, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in the USA, and the British Museum—to host joint exhibitions. The President of our country has instructed the officials responsible to ensure that construction work is completed on schedule and in accordance with high quality standards.
