Uzbek Snipers Win International Competition in South Korea for Second Consecutive Year

Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Defence team has won first place among foreign teams at the III International Sniper Competition in South Korea. The Uzbek team scored 678.4 points, finishing ahead of Vietnam and Türkiye.
The competition was held from September 3 to 10 in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province, and was organized by the Special Operations Forces Command of the South Korean Army. A total of 28 teams from eight countries took part: 15 from South Korea, three from Uzbekistan, three from Vietnam, two each from the UAE and Mongolia, and one each from Türkiye, Cambodia and Kazakhstan. Among the 13 foreign teams, Uzbekistan ranked first with 678.4 points, followed by Vietnam with 666.6 and Türkiye with 471.1.
The competition featured 20 tactical shooting stages conducted during both daytime and nighttime. Participants used pistols, assault rifles and sniper weapons to engage targets at different distances in urban, mountainous and forest environments. All exercises this year were new, while the conditions and rules for each stage were disclosed only immediately before it began.
Around 40% of the targets were moving or aerial targets, including drone-based targets. The organizers tested not only shooting accuracy but also concentration, endurance and the ability to perform under heavy physical and psychological pressure.
For Uzbekistan, the result marked a second consecutive victory at the competition. The team finished second in 2024 before winning the event in both 2025 and 2026.
