The number of protesters killed in Iran has exceeded 1,850, according to the U.S.-based human rights organization Human Rights. Mass demonstrations in the Islamic Republic have continued for a 17th consecutive day, spreading across dozens of cities.
Human rights groups estimate that more than 16,000 people have been detained since the unrest began. Reports point to widespread security raids, arrests of activists, and severe restrictions on access to information.
Amid the escalating crisis, U.S. President Donald Trump voiced support for the protesters. In a post on his Truth Social platform, he said that assistance was “on the way,” without providing further details.
Iranian authorities continue to describe the unrest as a foreign-backed provocation and have not confirmed the reported casualty figures.
