Electric and hybrid vehicle production in Uzbekistan to gradually increase to 500,000 units annually

Presidential Decree "On approval of the investment agreement on implementation of the investment project ‘Organisation of production of electric and hybrid vehicles and their component parts in the Republic of Uzbekistan’" has been adopted. This was announced in the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan.
According to the Resolution, negotiations will be held with the Investor on inclusion of the following issues in the Investment Agreement:
• phased increase of the production capacity of electric and hybrid cars up to 500 thousand units per year at the next stages of the Investment Project;
• bringing the level of localisation of production of electric and hybrid cars to 60 per cent at subsequent stages of the Investment Project;
• creation of 10,000 new jobs for the local population;
• expanding the list of countries to which electric and hybrid vehicles produced will be exported on a permanent basis beyond the export countries identified by the Joint Venture;
• development of measures to protect consumers' interests in purchasing high-quality and safe electric and hybrid cars, ensuring their compliance with local climatic conditions and providing warranty services;
• creation of equal conditions for granting privileges and preferences, stipulated by legislative acts, to all enterprises producing cars, including the Investor.
