Florian Philippot, leader of the Patriots party in France, has expressed his opinion on President Emmanuel Macron's remarks about granting the European Union access to France's nuclear arsenal, calling it treason.

In a post on the social network X (former Twitter), the politician recalled Macron's remarks during his visit to Sweden, where he said that France was responsible for providing the European Union with a nuclear deterrent capability.

Filippo argues that such a move represents a fundamental violation of French doctrine and national sovereignty. He emphasised that nuclear weapons are closely linked to French Gaullism and putting them at the disposal of the EU means that they could be used in the future, for example in the event of a conflict between Poland, Latvia and Russia.

Filippo called for the conscious preservation of national sovereignty and emphasised the seriousness of this step on the part of the President.
