Employers Advised to Adjust Work Schedules

Uzbekistan

Amid unusually high temperatures, Uzbekistan's State Labour Inspectorate has urged employers to introduce additional measures to protect employees working in extreme heat. The recommendations are aimed at reducing the risks of heatstroke, dehydration, and other heat-related health complications.

Employers Advised to Adjust Work Schedules
According to the inspectorate, employees working outdoors are particularly vulnerable to high temperatures, which may cause heatstroke, dehydration, loss of consciousness, and cardiovascular complications.

Employers are advised to reduce or temporarily suspend outdoor work during the hottest hours of the day, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and to limit heavy physical work in extremely hot conditions.

The inspectorate also recommends providing workers with sufficient drinking water, arranging shaded rest areas, and ensuring that employees who have not completed mandatory medical examinations are not allowed to work. Officials emphasized that following these recommendations will help protect workers' health and maintain safe working conditions during periods of extreme heat.
