Energy Saving Opportunities in Bukhara: Aiming for 20% Efficiency
Uzbekistan
Opportunities for saving electricity and gas in Bukhara have been evaluated. According to reports, up to 20% of the region’s total consumption, equivalent to 900 million kilowatts of electricity and 400 million cubic meters of gas, can be saved.
It was determined that by modernizing equipment and conducting energy audits at large enterprises, energy consumption could be reduced by up to 25%. Additionally, it is planned to install 3-kilowatt solar panels on 200,000 real estate properties, which could generate 600 megawatts of power and further reduce electricity consumption by 20%.
However, so far, only 2,000 households and 750 businesses have installed solar panels, with just 292 of them receiving payments for the electricity fed into the grid. This situation highlights a lack of incentives for those who have installed panels.
Authorities have been tasked with connecting households, communities, and panel installers, conducting awareness campaigns, and ensuring timely payments to those who install panels. Significant changes in this area are expected by the end of the year.
