Erdogan considers Putin's words on negotiations with Ukraine sincere
In an interview with US journalist Tucker Carlson, Putin expressed confidence that Russia and Ukraine would eventually find common ground, and although restoring relations between the nations will take time, he is keen to resolve the situation in Ukraine through dialogue.

"I have to admit that Mr Putin's words proved to be sincere. We made sincere efforts within the framework of the negotiations known as the Istanbul process. Our ministers negotiated with the Russian side on this issue. We have worked for a result, but peace has not yet been achieved. Despite that, we will not give up the pursuit of peace. We will continue to do everything possible to ensure peace," the Turkish leader emphasised in a conversation with journalists on his return from Egypt. He also noted that Ankara is ready to resume efforts to achieve peace through a process of governance free from external influences.

Erdogan added that Türkiye continues to seek a peaceful solution through meetings with both Putin and Zelensky. "From the very beginning, we called for a just peace instead of war, and we continue to act with this principle in mind," he emphasised.
