Erdogan Develops a Plan to Freeze the Russia-Ukraine War
On November 18, Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will present his proposal to freeze the Russia-Ukraine war during the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro, Bloomberg reports.

According to Erdogan's proposal, Ukraine will delay discussions on NATO membership for at least 10 years, "in order not to align with Putin."

Additionally, Erdogan proposes establishing a demilitarized zone in eastern Donbas and deploying international troops there as "additional guarantees." Furthermore, the Turkish president suggests providing Ukraine with military supplies as compensation for not becoming a NATO member.

Turkish officials told Bloomberg that while it would be difficult for Ukraine to accept such a proposal, they believe "this is the most realistic approach." According to the agency, Turkish officials want to postpone discussions on the fate of the occupied territories to a longer-term perspective and focus primarily on ensuring a ceasefire.

Erdogan hopes to convince Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to participate in negotiations in Istanbul. According to agency sources, the Turkish leader has received intelligence indicating that "Ukraine could lose more territories in the coming months if military actions continue."

The G20 summit will be held in Rio de Janeiro on November 18-19. Both Russia and Turkey are members of the G20, but Ukraine is not. Ukrainian President Zelensky will not attend the summit, as Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva ignored requests to invite him, Bloomberg reports.

Meduza writes that Russian President Vladimir Putin announced he would not attend the summit due to an international arrest warrant against him.

On November 16, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated in an interview with "Suspilne" that the Ukrainian government must take "all necessary actions" for the war to end diplomatically by 2025.
