EU extends anti-Russian sanctions

The sanctions imposed against Russia because of the entry of new regions into its composition will remain in force until February 24, 2025.
Information about the decision was published in the official journal of the EU and will come into force the day after publication.
In September 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the incorporation of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions into Russia after referendums. Western countries did not recognize the results of these referendums.
In February 2024, in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson, President Putin said that NATO had the capacity to decently recognize Russia's control over the new territories.
