In Paris, the exhibition "A Personal Story" by Uzbek artist Maxim Vardanyan celebrated the 35th anniversary of the Galerie de Buci. This event holds symbolic meaning as it recreates the 1989 debut, when both the art gallery and the artist made their debut in the French capital.

The Galerie de Buci presented Maxim Vardanyan's exhibition "A Personal Story" in honor of its 35th anniversary. The exhibition showcased more than 60 paintings created by the artist over the years, as part of the personal collection of gallery owner and collector Alexander Frenkel.

The vernissage held symbolic significance. The gallery not only recreated the 1989 exhibition, which was the artist's first Parisian debut, but also returned to the city's art scene, after Vardanyan had spent 20 years connecting his life and work with Paris. “Tired of playing by market rules,” he returned to Tashkent and began working for himself, as he believed that happiness could be restored where it had faded.

The exhibition at the Galerie de Buci allows visitors to immerse themselves in a world filled with personal memories, universal transformation, and the search for a sense of belonging.

Vardanyan’s style is distinct for its clashing colors, dramatic lines, and deep dive into surrealist poetry. Influences from Marc Chagall and Chaim Soutine are evident in his work: the combination of mythical magic and expressive distortions creates a balance between reality and dream.

“Vardanyan's works don't just tell stories – they build a bridge between the individual and the collective, the intimate and the public,” says art critic and editor-in-chief of the French art publication Quotidien de l'Art Rafael Pik.

Maxim Vardanyan was born in 1962 in Tashkent. He is famous for his works that explore themes of identity, memory, and cultural heritage. His paintings are a blend of abstract and symbolic elements, with every detail becoming an emotional and philosophical reflection.

After graduating from the Tashkent Art College, Vardanyan continued his career in Russia, and later in Europe. His works are exhibited in prestigious galleries in France, Belgium, the USA, the UK, and Japan, and are also part of the collections of famous personalities such as John Galliano and Kenzo Takada.
