Filming in Uzbekistan to Become More Attractive with New Rebate Program

Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan is launching a new support system for foreign film producers as it seeks to strengthen the country's appeal as an international filming destination. Overseas film companies will be able to recover part of their production expenses incurred in Uzbekistan, with reimbursements of up to UZS 4 billion per project.

Filming in Uzbekistan to Become More Attractive with New Rebate Program
The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the procedure for rebate payments. The program covers feature films, television and web series, documentaries and educational productions. The Tourism Committee will coordinate reimbursements through the Film in Uzbekistan platform, scheduled to launch by November 1.

To participate, a foreign company must register its project on the platform and sign an agreement with a local film production enterprise. Within 60 days after filming is completed, producers must submit documents confirming their expenses. Only payments for goods and services purchased from Uzbek tax residents will be eligible.

The reimbursement rate will range from 10% to 25%, depending on total production spending. Projects with expenses exceeding UZS 10 billion may receive a 25% rebate, although the maximum payment per film is capped at UZS 4 billion.

A list of available filming locations and props is expected to be published by October 1. UZS 5 billion has been allocated to the program in 2026, while funding for the rebate mechanism will be included in the state budget starting from 2027.
