The French technological company Axens will help complete the modernization of the Bukhara Oil Refinery in Uzbekistan in 2024-2025, as reported by the Uzbekneftegaz state company.

Uzbekistan plans to phase out the use of low-quality gasoline, particularly AI-80, and transition to producing Euro-5 standard fuel by 2025.

The modernization project of the Bukhara Oil Refinery includes the production of high-octane gasoline AI-92 and AI-95 of Euro-5 class, with a total volume of over 1 million tons per year in proportions of 60% and 40% respectively, clarified Uzbekneftegaz.

To expedite the implementation of the project, the country's government has signed an agreement with Axens for the use of the company's technologies and the construction of new units at the Bukhara Oil Refinery.

The Bukhara refinery, with a refining capacity of 2.5 million tonnes, currently produces Ai-80, Ai-91/92, Ai-95, Ai-98 Euro-2 grade motor gasoline, Jet A-1 jet fuel, Euro-4,5,6 diesel fuel, fuel oil, liquefied petroleum gas, solvent and sulphur.
