The project aims to address chronic traffic congestion on the existing road, especially during peak tourist seasons. According to the deputy minister, the ministry is actively developing the necessary infrastructure to ensure fast, uninterrupted, and comfortable access to the Charvak-Chimgan recreational zone.

Currently, the road handles up to 5,000 vehicles per hour, but during peak days, traffic can increase tenfold, causing significant congestion and frustration for drivers and tourists alike.

The new highway will be a toll road, and the project concept is currently open for public discussion. The technical and economic feasibility study is expected by mid-next year. The winning company in the tender will then submit technical and financial proposals. Construction is scheduled to begin at the end of 2026.

Key parameters of the highway:

Length: 56 km
Category: 1A, six lanes
Surface: modern cement-concrete
Speed limit: up to 150 km/h
Projected annual traffic: 250,000 vehicles

The project will be implemented under a public-private partnership (PPP) scheme.
