The Georgian government has announced that it will take diplomatic measures if Pavel Gerchinsky, the ambassador of the European Union in Tbilisi, does not stop interfering in the country's internal affairs and does not change his speech. Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze informed about this in a briefing.

Georgia: Action will be taken if the EU ambassador does not change his speech
According to the prime minister, the EU ambassador has been supporting the opposition for a long time and making statements against the Georgian government, which is in violation of the Vienna Convention.

"We have not responded to this for some time, but everything has its limits. If we do not change our behavior in the future, we will definitely have a diplomatic reaction in cases involving the ambassador of the European Union and other ambassadors," said Kobakhidze.

The head of the Georgian government recalled that Gerchinsky blackmailed the Georgian government before the elections, saying that the European Union would not provide them with funds if they did not "change course". The diplomat also called on Georgian citizens to vote for the opposition in the October 26 parliamentary elections.

As Kobakhidze said earlier, the ruling party "Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia" has decided to remove negotiations on EU membership from its agenda until the end of 2028 and to abandon all budget grants in the framework of cooperation. According to the prime minister, this was due to constant blackmail from the European Union, demands to start the membership process and repeal a number of laws passed by the parliament, TACC reports.
