Gulshan Alimardonova Wins Historic Gold

Nineteen-year-old Gulshan Alimardonova has become the first woman in Uzbekistan’s history to win a world championship title in karate. At the tournament in Cairo, she claimed a decisive 6:1 victory and secured a landmark achievement for Uzbek sports.
At the World Karate Championships held in Cairo from November 27 to 30, Alimardonova dominated the final bout against Malaysia’s Shahmalarani Chandran, confidently securing the gold medal.
Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Sports called the victory a “historic achievement,” noting that she is the country’s first-ever female world champion in this discipline.
Previously, among men, Dostonbek Otabolaev had won a world championship title.
This year has been particularly successful for Gulshan: in November she earned a silver medal at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, and in October she won gold at the 3rd CIS Games in Azerbaijan.
According to the World Karate Federation (WKF) rankings, Alimardonova currently holds 15th place among more than 300 athletes worldwide, with 1737.5 points.
