Happiness Index on the Rise: Sociologists Measure Wellbeing of Uzbek Families
Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan has recorded its highest level of life satisfaction in recent years. A large-scale study involving nearly 13,000 respondents across the nation revealed that due to economic reforms, improved access to education, and rising employment, the overall family happiness index of citizens has confidently crossed into the high-level threshold.
In March-April 2026, the "Family and Gender" Research Institute conducted a survey among 12,697 respondents across all regions of Uzbekistan. According to the findings, the country's overall family happiness index scored 0.618 points on a scale from -1 to +1, which officially represents a high level. Experts note a steady upward trend: the figure stood at 0.560 in 2023 and reached 0.611 in 2025.
This positive dynamics is driven by the growth of key sub-indices over the past four years. The employment rate surged from 0.337 to 0.489 points, satisfaction with public services rose from 0.372 to 0.514, and access to education reached 0.522 points. Healthcare markers and family economic wellbeing also demonstrated notable progress. The most significant increase was recorded in the perception of personal family happiness (rising to 0.750), while the importance of traditional family values remained consistently high at 0.793 points.
