Historic Breakthrough: U.S., Egypt, Qatar and Turkey Sign Gaza Ceasefire Agreement

At the “Middle East Peace Summit” in Sharm El-Sheikh, world leaders reached a landmark agreement to end the war in Gaza. The ceasefire, brokered by the U.S., Egypt, Qatar and Turkey, officially came into effect on October 10.
According to Fox News, U.S. President Donald Trump, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani signed the final ceasefire agreement as mediators between Israel and Hamas.
As reported by Reuters, under the first phase of the peace plan, Hamas will release all Israeli hostages and return the bodies of those killed, while Israel will withdraw its forces to agreed lines and release hundreds of Palestinian prisoners.
In his remarks following the signing, Donald Trump stated (Reuters):
“The breakthrough we celebrate tonight is more than just the end of the war in Gaza — with God’s help, it will be a new beginning for the entire Middle East. From this moment, we can build a region that is strong, stable, prosperous, and united in its complete and irreversible rejection of terror.”
