The upcoming summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) will unite the big family of the union's member states and open a new chapter of cooperation, Chinese President Xi Jinping said.

The Chinese leader stated in an article published by the Kazinform news agency on 2 July that, in addition to the state visit, he would participate in the SCO summit in Astana. He expressed confidence that with joint efforts, the Astana summit would conclude successfully, unite the large SCO family, and open a new chapter of cooperation.

The Chinese leader recalled that the Chinese authorities oppose hegemonism, power politics and bloc confrontation and express their readiness to promote equal multipolarity of the world.

Earlier, June 30, it was reported that Chinese President Xi Jinping will make an international tour on July 2-6, during which he will participate in the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), as well as visit Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.

The SCO summit will be held in Astana (Kazakhstan) on 3-4 July. One of the key outcomes of the meeting will be the signing of the decision on Belarus' membership in the organisation. Thus, after the accession of the republic, the number of SCO member-countries will increase to 10. Now it includes Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, as well as later joined by India, Pakistan and Iran.
