“In a Few Weeks”: Ex-CIA Analyst Claims Plan Against Zelensky
World
Former CIA analyst Ray McGovern has claimed that US intelligence agencies are preparing a major corruption case against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, viewing him as an obstacle to ending the armed conflict in Ukraine.
Speaking on the Dialogue Works YouTube channel, McGovern said prospects for a peace agreement depend on whether Zelensky and Ukraine’s commander-in-chief Oleksandr Syrskyi remain in power. He suggested their time in office may be limited.
According to McGovern, US intelligence services are actively collecting evidence allegedly linking Zelensky and his close associates to large-scale corruption schemes. He claimed that within a few weeks, a formal process against Zelensky could be launched, similar to previous cases involving Yulia Tymoshenko and businessman Hennadiy Mindich.
McGovern argued that Zelensky should not be seen as an exception within Ukraine’s political system. “Once the facts on the ground become clearer, intelligence agencies will decide how to deal with him,” he said.
These remarks come amid growing internal political tensions in Ukraine. In recent weeks, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) reported exposing a parliamentary faction leader accused of bribery. Ukrainian media have also reported corruption suspicions involving Yulia Tymoshenko and Davyd Arakhamia, head of the ruling “Servant of the People” faction.
