The opening ceremony of the "Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan" Centre for the Promotion and Culture of the Turkic World took place at the Guba branch of the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University. This was reported by the "Dunyo" news agency.
It is reported that the event was organized jointly by the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University and the Tashkent State Pedagogical University.
The opening ceremony of the centre was attended by the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan Isa Habibbayli, the Rector of the Tashkent State Pedagogical University Abdugaffor Kirgizboyev, the Executive Director of the "Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan" Friendship Society Erkin Nuriddinov, intellectuals, representatives of science, and other honoured guests.
The centre is considered the first institution outside Baku in the region that strengthens cultural ties between the two countries, providing opportunities for the wide promotion of the Uzbek language and literature, information on the culture, history, and socio-economic development of Uzbekistan.
