Modern construction materials made from local basalt are being produced in Nukus
Uzbekistan
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the operations of the "Nukus Insulation Group" enterprise in the city of Nukus.
The facility manufactures modern thermal insulation materials using local basalt raw materials. This project, aimed at the efficient use of Karakalpakstan’s abundant natural resources, contributes to the development of the region's construction materials industry.
The project was implemented in accordance with the Head of State’s resolution dated February 9, 2024, "On additional measures for the comprehensive socio-economic development and employment of the population of the Republic of Karakalpakstan."
Modern European equipment has been installed at the facility, which has a total value of $50 million. This machinery enables the production of goods meeting international standards from local raw materials.
The enterprise has an annual production capacity of 50,000 tons of thermal insulation materials, valued at 300 billion soums. It has created 150 new jobs.
Basalt-based insulation materials are characterized by fire resistance, excellent thermal insulation properties, and durability. Their use in construction enhances the energy efficiency of buildings and structures while reducing heating and cooling costs.
The Head of State inspected the production process and the finished products, and held a warm conversation with the workforce.
At the same venue, the governors of the regions assigned to support specific districts of Karakalpakstan reported on the work accomplished during the recent period.
The President noted the need for these regions to further expand their efforts to support and improve the infrastructure of these districts. He emphasized the importance of strengthening ties and industrial cooperation between regions, jointly leveraging available opportunities, and increasing the number of projects aimed at boosting employment and raising the population's income.
