The project promises to redefine traditional exhibitions: through advanced information technologies and digital displays, visitors will be able to immerse themselves in Khorezm’s centuries-old heritage, recognized on a global scale.

Interactive "Lazgi and Avesto" Museum to Open in Urgench
In accordance with Government Resolution No. 241, adopted on May 12, 2026, the "Lazgi and Avesto" Museum will be established within a facility located in the Tazmiyaz district of Urgench. This new cultural venue will operate as an official branch of the Museum of Modern Art of Uzbekistan. Its core mission is to widely popularize the famous Khorezmian "Lazgi" dance—inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List—and to showcase the profound history of the ancient "Avesto" scripture.

A defining feature of the museum will be the integration of leading global practices and information and communication technologies (ICT) to create interactive expositions. Funding for the project is diversified, drawing from the local budget of the Khorezm region, the museum’s own future revenues, corporate sponsorships, and other legal sources.

The Khokimiyat of the Khorezm region has been tasked with an urgent timeline: to completely renovate the building, establish the material and technical infrastructure, secure qualified personnel, and finalize the exhibitions for the grand opening by July 1, 2026. The high-tech museum is highly anticipated to become a major educational landmark and a primary point of attraction for international tourists.
