Israel Preparing for War with Turkey

"Syria's groups may unite with Turkey, which is why Israel must prepare for war with Turkey," warned Israel's Nagel Committee. The committee also emphasizes that Turkey’s ambitions to restore its Ottoman-era influence could heighten tensions with Israel, possibly leading to conflict.
In the latest report from the Nagel Committee on defense budget and security strategy, it is stated that Israel must prepare for a direct confrontation with Turkey. The report also warns about the potential for Syrian groups to align with Turkey and the impact this could have on Israel’s security.
“The Syrian threat could become even more dangerous than the Iranian threat. Forces supported by Turkey could fuel regional instability and increase the threat to Israel’s security,” the report states.
The Nagel Committee presented its recommendations to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Israel Katz, and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich. The report outlines a comprehensive strategy to address emerging threats.
The committee proposed increasing the defense budget by up to 15 billion NIS annually over the next five years to prepare the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) for threats from Turkey and other regional challenges.
Netanyahu commented on the report: "We are witnessing fundamental changes in the Middle East. Iran has long been our greatest threat, but new forces are entering the arena, and we must be prepared for the unexpected. This report provides us with a roadmap to secure Israel’s future."
