On April 14, following positive results from repeated testing at the laboratory in Piskent, the Technical Regulation Agency and UzTest Center granted conditional approval for the circulation of Leapmotor-branded vehicles in Uzbekistan.

However, this is not a simple approval — it reflects the high standards of responsibility and transparency imposed on automakers. Uzbekistan prioritizes quality and safety in its vehicle import policy, and Leapmotor has been assigned several obligations.

First, the company must appoint an official representative — a legal entity registered in Uzbekistan — who will be responsible for addressing any detected non-conformities and compensating consumers for any potential damages. Additionally, complete legal and technical documentation must be provided for each vehicle type imported into the country.

Leapmotor is not only responsible for delivering vehicles but also for monitoring and evaluating the manufacturing processes and conditions in their production facilities. They are required to independently assess and clarify these processes, ensuring high quality and consistency. This plays an essential role in fostering the emergence of high-standard and reliable vehicles in Uzbekistan’s market.

This development demonstrates the government's transparent, consumer-oriented and safety-first approach to its automotive policy. The arrival of new competitors like Leapmotor among established European, Chinese, and South Korean brands promotes a healthier competitive environment.

In the future, time will tell how the imported Leapmotor cars will be evaluated in terms of quality and whether they will earn consumer trust. But without a doubt, this decision represents an important step toward openness and progress in Uzbekistan’s automotive industry.
