Uzbekistan
Lithuania is interested in attracting Uzbek workers and is ready to accelerate the process of obtaining work visas. The authorities of the two countries agreed to reduce the terms of issuing work permits and introduce digital solutions to optimize migration processes.
In Vilnius, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Lithuania Alicia Sherbaite and the Director of the Migration Department Evelina Gudzinskaitė held negotiations, during which the issue of reducing the issuance of work visas for citizens of Uzbekistan was discussed.
In order to accelerate the procedure, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Migration Agency of Uzbekistan are introducing the "QR-code" service, which will allow Lithuania to quickly process documents and issue visas in a shorter time.
In addition, the delegation of Uzbekistan held a meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Social Protection and Labor of Lithuania, which is responsible for accounting for vacancies and monitoring the hiring of foreign workers. According to the Lithuanian side, Uzbek citizens rank third in terms of the number of labor migrants in the country - as of the beginning of 2025, about 9,000 Uzbeks are officially employed.
In 2025, Lithuanian employers are ready to hire 2,000 employees on a permanent basis and at least 500 people for seasonal work.
