Argentine President Javier Milei presented on 20 December a decree with a package of measures aimed at deregulating the economy. This is reported by DW.

"I signed an emergency decree to begin to dismantle the oppressive institutional and legal system that has destroyed our country," the President said in his address to the nation.

Argentina's newly elected President Javier Milei announced that he plans to change the country's economic system through deregulation using his presidential powers.

He said he plans to change more than 300 regulations to lay "the foundations for the reconstruction of the Argentine economy and restore freedom and autonomy to individuals, removing the State from their shoulders."

"The goal is to start along the path to rebuilding the country," Miley said in a speech broadcast on television and radio.

It is noted that one of the most important aspects of Miley's plans is the abolition of laws regulating rents and preventing the privatisation of state-owned enterprises.

Miley also announced the "modernization of labor law to facilitate the process of creating real jobs".

Some 300 deregulation measures announced by Miley will also affect tourism, satellite internet, pharmaceuticals, winemaking and foreign trade.
