The regional international drills "Birlestik-2024" with the participation of servicemen of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan began in Mangistau region in western Kazakhstan. This was reported by the press service of the Kazakh Ministry of Defence.

"The military manoeuvres will take place at the Oymash training range, as well as at the sea area 2 km from Cape Tokmak. From 8 to 17 July, military contingents will prepare and conduct a joint operation to localise the armed conflict," the ministry said.

The drills will involve about 4,000 servicemen and up to 700 units of weapons and military equipment. "Tactical episodes will be played out with the participation of ground and air reconnaissance groups, marine special forces, crews of army and front-line aviation, warships and boats, artillery crews, assault and tank units," the ministry explained.

Cultural, leisure and sports events will also take place within the framework of the drills. In addition, competitions in military applied sports, tactical orienteering and army tactical shooting will be organised.
