Uzbekistan is firm in its position that Palestine has the right to establish an independent state in accordance with UN resolutions. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said this November 9 in Tashkent, speaking at the 16th ECO summit.
"The Israeli-Palestinian war in the Middle East, which poses a serious threat to global peace and security, is of great concern to all of us. Unfortunately, this bloody conflict has resulted primarily in more civilian casualties, especially women, children and the elderly. The risk of war spreading across the region is becoming more and more real," Mirziyoyev said.
It is categorically impossible to allow the confrontation to escalate into a large-scale conflict, he said.
"We call on the parties to immediately stop hostilities, start peace talks and come to a reasonable compromise. We once again express our firm position that the Palestinian people have the right, confirmed by UN resolutions, i.e. the right to establish their own independent state," the Uzbek leader said.
