August 31 is the Day of Remembrance for Victims of Repression. In connection with this, representatives of state and public organizations, senior citizens, and intellectuals gathered at the "Shahidlar Hotirasi" (Martyrs' Memorial) Alley.

Verses from the Quran were recited in memory of the ancestors. Pilaf was served.

Holding this ceremony alongside the celebration of Independence Day deeply touches the heart. It signifies that no matter how much time passes, loyalty to the Motherland is always honored, and no good deed is forgotten.

At the symbolic tombstone in the park, the Quran was also recited. There was a discussion on restoring historical truth and raising the younger generation with this spirit.

"On the eve of Independence Day, during these peaceful and free days, remembering the names of our heroic ancestors and honoring their sacred memory is both our duty and obligation," said Shavkat Mirziyoyev. "That is why we restore the honor and dignity of our compatriots. The noble motto 'Man is precious, memory is sacred' has firmly established itself in our lives. We are building memorial complexes. Educational institutions, mahallas, museums, parks, and alleys bearing the names of our ancestors-enlighteners are being created. The work we started on studying their heritage is being taken to a new level. Artistic and scientific works, films on this topic are being created. Books of Remembrance are being prepared. International conferences are being held. Over the past three years, we have rehabilitated more than 1,200 victims of political repression. What does this mean? It means that justice cannot be broken, and truth will ultimately prevail."

At last year's ceremony, the head of state gave instructions to identify victims of repression at the local level and expand research in this area.

On this basis, on July 19 of this year, the President issued a decree "On expanding the work to study the lives and activities of compatriots who became victims of political repression and to immortalize their memory." In accordance with it, a republican commission was created to coordinate this work, and a number of responsible organizations, headed by the Ministry of Defense, were assigned to it.
