The head of the US space agency believes that more time is needed to prepare for the Artemis 3 mission for security reasons.
For security reasons, the American space agency NASA postponed the planned landing of astronauts on the Moon for one year - until 2026. This was announced by the head of NASA Bill Nelson.
At a press conference on 9 January, he said that more time is needed to prepare for the Artemis 3 mission.
"Safety is our top priority," he said.
According to Nelson, the Artemis 3 mission is scheduled to take place in September 2026. Moreover, the Artemis 2 preparatory mission will also be delayed by one year to September 2025.
