According to the report, Ukraine's NATO partners fulfilled their commitments made at the alliance summit in Washington in July. At that time, they had pledged at least €40 billion in military aid for Ukraine in 2024.

According to the NATO Secretary General, more than half of the final sum came from European allies and Canada. At the same time, the United States remained the leading individual contributor in terms of aid provided.

Ahead of the NATO defense ministers' meeting on Thursday, February 13, a report on security assistance to Ukraine was presented to alliance members. Additionally, the European Union will reassess the distribution of its foreign aid.

As reported by Bloomberg on February 10, the European Commission intends to align its multibillion-dollar foreign aid with EU foreign policy interests amid Russia's ongoing aggression against Ukraine and U.S. President Donald Trump’s sharp rhetoric.

The plan includes making foreign funding allocation more targeted and ensuring the EU's strategic interests, including strengthening alliances with like-minded countries, securing access to raw materials, and controlling migration flows.

A draft document reviewed by Bloomberg highlights that the EU’s overall budget, which traditionally accounts for about 1% of the bloc’s GDP, has been strained by a broad range of demands—from the green transition to defense spending.

The European Commission announced that in the coming weeks, it will present its proposal to optimize the seven-year budget for 2028–2034.
