On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on all civilized nations to stand against anti-Semitism. He referred to the Palestinian radical movement Hamas as "new Nazis." The statement from the Prime Minister was distributed by his press service.
According to Netanyahu, "Hamas are the new Nazis, and we have decided to defeat them once and for all," "The Jewish state will always be a refuge for Jews worldwide."
"On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, I call on all civilized nations to fight anti-Semitism wherever it manifests — in universities, on city streets, or in international organizations like the ICC (International Criminal Court)," added the Israeli Prime Minister.
He stated that "the ICC disgraced itself by allowing anti-Semitic attacks on Israel."
For reference, according to the United Nations General Assembly resolution of November 1, 2005, International Holocaust Remembrance Day is observed annually on January 27. On this day in 1945, the Red Army liberated prisoners from the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp in Poland, where over 1.1 million people were killed, including over 1 million Jews.
