President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced during the festive events in the "New Uzbekistan" park that the name of New Andijan will be changed to the city of Babur - in honor of the great Uzbek commander, poet and thinker Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur. This initiative was warmly supported by the residents of the region.

New Andijan will bear the name of the great Babur
The new city, built from scratch in two years, will become not only the administrative and residential center, but also the spiritual, cultural, and educational capital of the Fergana Valley. A large-scale cluster with kindergartens, schools, a university, an IT park, a museum, and a modern library will be built here. The total area of the city is 4000 hectares, with a population of up to 500 thousand people. The implementation of the project will begin within a month, its funding will be $250 million.

"We must build not just a new city, but a city of dreams - inspiring, intellectual, reflecting the values of our great ancestor," the President noted. He emphasized that Babur is not only the successor of the Timurid Renaissance, but also a symbol of the third Renaissance of Uzbekistan.

A majestic monument to Babur will be erected at the highest point of the new city. The Head of State called this project the fulfillment of the cherished dream of the great ancestor, who, while in exile, always yearned for his native land.
