New Initiative in Kegeyli Provides Fifty Families with a Steady Income Source

As in all regions of the country, measures to boost household incomes are being systematically implemented in the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
A greenhouse complex established in the Kegeyli district on the initiative of the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction is playing an active role in this effort.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the complex's operations.
The complex received 12.5 billion soums in concessional funding, which was used to build a modern, lightweight-structure greenhouse covering five hectares. As a result, the first phase has engaged 50 families listed in the Social Registry, providing them with permanent jobs.
Each participating family in need has been allocated 1,000 square meters (10 *sotkas*) of greenhouse space. The "lead entrepreneur" overseeing the complex does more than just provide land and greenhouses; over a two-year period, they provide on-site training to help participants acquire the necessary knowledge and practical skills, enabling them to set up greenhouse operations on their own household plots and establish a stable source of income.
Crucially, the agricultural produce grown by the families will be purchased by the lead entrepreneur at market prices.
Furthermore, the greenhouse complex serves as a training center, teaching modern greenhouse and agricultural management techniques to up to 1,000 citizens annually. This system is designed to provide a guaranteed and stable income source for the local population.
Additional opportunities have also been created to further increase family incomes. Duck farming is being conducted on a 350-meter canal adjacent to the greenhouse complex, with a flock of 500 ducks. Under the project, each family has been provided with 10 breeding ducks of the "Favorite" breed, imported from Brazil. Residents are receiving detailed instruction on the techniques for raising them.
This project is considered vital for fostering entrepreneurship and ensuring employment in rural areas. Special recognition is given to the approach of modern entrepreneurs who strive not only to grow their own businesses but also to help improve people's quality of life.
The project makes extensive use of modern, resource-efficient technologies. Solar panels with a total capacity of 100 kilowatts have been installed on-site, and the electricity they generate fully meets the greenhouse complex's daily energy needs.
