New round of talks: Kyiv awaits meeting in the US

Ukraine has accepted Washington’s proposal to hold a new round of peace talks next week, but Russia’s participation remains uncertain.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said a new round of peace negotiations could take place next week in the United States. According to him, Kyiv agreed to Washington’s proposal to host the meeting, which is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday or Wednesday.
However, it remains unclear whether the Russian delegation will agree to participate in talks on US territory.
Zelensky noted that the main topic of the upcoming meeting will be the idea of creating a free economic zone in Donbas. He said neither side is particularly enthusiastic about the proposal, as Moscow and Kyiv have differing views on its parameters.
The Ukrainian president added that the parties agreed to return to the issue at the next meeting to discuss possible formats for implementing the initiative.
