Norway plans to create grain reserves in the country in the amount of 82.5 thousand tonnes by 2030 against the background of the conflict in Ukraine, climate crisis, consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and other threats to world security. This is reported by TASS with reference to the Associated Press (AP).

Norwegian Minister of Agriculture and Food Geir Pollestad has signed corresponding grain storage contracts with four companies. They will be valid from 2024-2025, for 25 years. According to the minister, whose words are quoted by the agency, such measures are needed so that in a crisis situation that may arise, the Norwegian population would have grain reserves for three months.

According to AP, to begin with Oslo plans to increase the volume of grain reserves to 30 thousand tonnes and will conclude a number of contracts with companies over the next few years to reach the required figure by the end of the decade.
