First week of October is celebrated as the week of commemoration of victims of Political repression every year

Republican commission will be established to study the lives and activities of compatriots were victims of political repression and to coordinate the work of perpetuating their memory.
The proposal of the Republican Center of Spirituality and Enlightenment, the Academy of Sciences, the Union of Writers, the State Museum of Repression Victims' Memory to celebrate the first week of October every year as the week of remembrance of the victims of political repression in Uzbekistan was approved.
The Republican Commission will develop appropriate measures for the commemoration of Repression Victims Week and ensure their implementation.
It should be noted that in 1937-1953, more than 100,000 representatives of our people were victims of repression policy by the authoritarian regime. 13,000 of our compatriots were shot, thousands of people were unjustly detained and sent to exile. Among them were prominent state and political figures, representatives of science, creative intellectuals, religious scholars, employees of the military and judicial system, workers and farmers and their family members.
During 2021-2024, names of more than 1,200 victims of political repression were acquitted by the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
