According to RIA Novosti, the court’s ruling allows Sarkozy to leave prison, where he was serving a five-year sentence on charges of corruption and influence peddling.

Sarkozy was taken into custody on October 21 after his conviction was upheld. The appellate court reviewed his legal team’s request and agreed to replace imprisonment with judicial control measures.

Under the court’s conditions, Sarkozy is expected to comply with restrictions, including a ban on contacting other individuals involved in the case and an obligation to appear before the court when summoned.
