Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and his German counterpart Boris Pistorius signed a new military cooperation agreement. The signing ceremony for the document, which replaces the outdated 2011 framework agreement, took place at the Ministry of National Defense of Poland, coinciding with the 35th anniversary of the Polish-German Treaty of Good Neighborliness. The new legal framework is designed to systematize the parties' ongoing defense interactions and organically complement allied obligations within NATO and the European Union.

The ratified document regulates in detail joint operations in such high-tech and strategic domains as military mobility, the expansion of logistics support infrastructure, the execution of regular military exercises, ensuring maritime security in the Baltic Sea, as well as coordination in cyberspace and the utilization of space technologies. Unlike the similar Polish-French treaty of 2025, the current agreement does not contain clauses on mutual direct security guarantees. According to Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, downgrading the legal status of the document from a full treaty to an inter-departmental agreement was a compromise step driven by domestic political friction and the rigid stance of the opposition Law and Justice party.
