Politico: US eases restrictions on strikes on Russian Federation
World
The USA has authorised the AFU to launch strikes with US weapons against all objects dangerous to Ukraine "anywhere" on Russian territory, Politico reports.
National security adviser Jake Sullivan said that strikes are now possible not only against forces on the Kharkiv Region border, but also on the entire Russian territory where Russian forces threaten Ukraine.
Sullivan noted that this expansion applies to any location from where Russian forces attack Ukraine. The decision to loose the restrictions came after recent strikes on Belgorod, which were in response to attacks on Kharkiv.
Previously, the US had only allowed strikes to defend the Kharkiv region. However, Sullivan noted that the new policy applies to all potential threats, including a possible attack on Sumy Region.
