According to official data, Uzbekneftegaz produced 25.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas in 2025, falling 1.3 bcm short of the forecasted 26.5 bcm. Gas output forecasts had been revised downward in previous years as well.

In 2025, the company drilled 56 new wells and carried out major repairs on 29 wells. For 2026–2027, plans include stabilizing gas production levels and implementing more than 300 geological and technical measures to boost reserves and efficiency.

The strategy also focuses on deep gas processing, creating added value chains, producing import-substituting and export-oriented products, and improving the company’s financial health. Measures include divesting non-core assets, cutting sponsorship spending, and optimizing costs.

Other priorities include digitalization, the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies, strengthening internal controls and compliance systems, and preventing corruption and conflicts of interest.

Earlier, on January 27, the president announced large-scale inspections at Uzbekneftegaz and the State Assets Management Agency, where financial violations amounting to billions of soums were uncovered.
