President Issues Directives to Enhance the Competitiveness of the Defense System

On February 21, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Innovation Technology Center of the Defense Industry Agency, where he reviewed the production capacities, advanced developments, and military and dual-purpose products.
Alongside the professional training of military personnel, the development of the defense industry plays a crucial role in strengthening the army’s capabilities. Under the President’s initiative, the foundation of a modern defense industry in Uzbekistan has been laid, marking a historically significant achievement.
The agency under the Ministry of Defense is systematically working on modernizing weaponry, adopting new technologies, and introducing promising innovations into the armed forces.
This Innovation Technology Center produces nearly 80 types of military and dual-purpose products. Additionally, startup projects in robotics and unmanned aerial vehicles are being supported.
During the visit, new models of military equipment, as well as prospective projects and plans for the further development of the defense sector, were presented.
The head of state emphasized that these are just the initial steps and issued directives to continue enhancing the competitiveness of the defense system. He stressed the importance of constantly improving production, mastering new products, and actively integrating innovative technologies and artificial intelligence.
Furthermore, orders were given to expand private sector involvement in the defense industry through contract-based production and to increase the variety of military and dual-purpose products. Attention was also directed toward creating new jobs, systematically training specialists, and establishing scientific laboratories for new technologies.
At the end of the visit, President Mirziyoyev outlined the strategic directions for the further development of the defense industry, assigning specific tasks to ensure high product quality, expand production capacity, and strengthen the position of local enterprises in the international market.
